SLIDING SCALE
My sliding scale is based on the framework developed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk. It is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to compassionate end-of-life support, while also recognizing the systemic inequalities that shape our access to financial resources.
I believe this work is an act of care for one another, and that a thriving community makes room for the many different financial realities we navigate. A sliding scale works best when grounded in honesty, mutual respect, and an understanding of the complexity of our circumstances. I don’t ask for income verification because I trust clients to choose the rate that best reflects their current situation. Doulas deserve to be paid fairly for their work, and clients deserve pricing that acknowledges the realities of economic access and privilege.
The following guidelines are here to help you find a rate that feels appropriate for your circumstances.
1
Top Tier - Full Cost
This rate reflects the full cost of my services and helps sustain my work. If you have financial stability, savings, investments, or access to resources that allow you to meet your needs comfortably, I invite you to choose this tier. Your contribution helps support the long-term sustainability of this work and makes a more accessible rate possible for others in our community.
2
MID TIER - Shared cost
This tier may be a good fit if you can generally meet your basic needs but have to be thoughtful about how you spend your money. Perhaps you’re paying off debt, building savings, living paycheck to paycheck, or balancing competing financial priorities. You have some stability, but the full cost of services would feel like a stretch. Choosing this tier helps balance your own financial needs with the sustainability of this work.
3
Low Tier - Community Access
The bottom cost represents an honest acknowledgment that there are folks whose economic circumstances would prevent them from utilizing my services if there was not a deliberate opportunity made for them. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living paycheck to paycheck or are in significant debt, you probably belong here and you deserve a community that honors your price as equal an economic offering as the person who can pay the highest tier. Even when the lower tier is still prohibitive, I will work with folks to offer extended payment plans and other solutions.

Other Notes
Please choose the rate that feels most aligned with your current financial circumstances. These descriptions are here to help guide you, not to make you prove your need. I trust you to choose honestly and appreciate your care in helping make this work accessible and sustainable for our community.
